Last Sunday 361 squadron took part in the Durham/Northumberland Wing Inter-Squadron Cross-Country Competition at the Rising Sun Country Park in Wallsend. Today City of Durham Squadron celebrated ATC Sunday with a service for cadets, staff and parents at All Saints Church. ATC Sunday celebrates the founding of the Air Training Corps. Our Padre led a wonderful service focusing on our Corps Ethos, some brave cadets gave fantastic readings and music was even provided by our very own cadets and staff! On Saturday 12th November 8 Cadets and 4 staff for 264 Skipton Squadron took on the challenge of climbing up Buckden Pike in the Yorkshire Dales. This was to pay tribute to a Polish Air Crew who lost their lives after a severe snowstorm lead to poor vision the aircraft and crew sadly ended up colliding with the dale top.more -->

On Sunday 12th of February there was a fire at the Church of Ascension in Salford. Witnessing the glow of the fire from his home, Corporal Liam Cole went outside to investigate. On noticing it was his local church he reacted and rushed to the church. Arriving before the emergency services, Corporal Cole took charge of the situation and established a safe distance for onlookers of the fire.more -->

In November 2016, RAF Air Cadets from 2200 (Oldham) Squadron undertook a sponsored remembrance to formally mark the 100th Anniversary of the end Battle of the Somme. The Cadets decided it would be a fitting tribute to those who died in the battle to raise extra funds for the Royal British Legion, who provide valuable support to the families of Service Personnel who have died or been injured in battle.more -->
