Mirfield Air Cadets Celebrate the Successes of 2016

In July Air Cadets in Mirfield held their annual Open Day and Presentation Parade to celebrate the achievements of Squadron members during the first half of the year, and it was a very busy day with over 200 certificates to be presented to 55 cadets, as well as the annual trophies.

Regional Activity Centre Visit

Recently Air Cadets from 868 (Mirfield) Squadron were joined by representatives of 59 (Huddersfield), 96 (Desbury) and 185 (Batley) Squadrons for a weekend attending the North Region Activity Centre at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.

MIRFIELD SHOW 2017

11.45 on a warm and bright Sunday afternoon in August, and it’s nearly time for the formal opening of Mirfield Agricultural Show 2017. But before Councillor Paul Blakely, Mayor of Mirfield, takes centre stage the public address system announces the arrival of the cadets from 868 (Mirfield Squadron Air Cadets in the main arena for a display by their Corps of Drums and display team, greeted by applause from all around the audience.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Esmée Webley, an 18-year-old Air Cadet with 2522 (Bedlington) Squadron ATC, has qualified as a pilot, thanks to a scholarship funded by the Royal Air Forces Association.

Cadet Lays Wreath at Menin Gate

From the 26th to 31st of May I went on a school trip to Belgium and France. On the 29th of May whilst in Belgium I had the honour of taking part in the Last Post Ceremony held at the Menin Gate which has taken place every evening since the 1st November 1929.
