Inter-Cadet Forces Competition

On the 26th March, a team of 6 cadets from 128 (Barrow) Squadron competed against teams from the local Army, Sea and Marine cadets in the Inter-Cadet Forces competition, organised by the St George’s Society. The day involved the cadets learning a new skill in the form of pulling (or rowing!) and they were taught the technique by the Sea cadet unit’s staff.
The competition also included a gym test, a basketball game, a military quiz, orienteering and a leadership task. Having come 1st in the orienteering aspect of the day, #team128 were unfortunately pipped to 1st place by the Army cadets in the overall competition, with the Sea cadets in 3rd and the Marine cadets rounding off the placings in 4th.
However, a fun day was had by all and it showcased the opportunities for collaborative working by the staff and cadets of all the cadet forces.
Officer commanding 128, Flt Lt Katie Macpherson said, ‘This competition between the cadet forces of Barrow-in-Furness, is a unique event in the calendar and a fantastic opportunity for us to work together and show how good the young people in these groups are for the local community. We are also forging new working relationships with the other cadets forces, to enable us to broaden the experiences offered to all the cadets.’
Whilst we didn’t win in 2017, the team said they’d be back again to try again in 2018!
